1980s,90s Burberry Coat
Burberrys Red Coat
A stunning late 1980s, early 1990s short “Burberrys” raincoat. In red, girls!
“Burberrys” was founded in 1856 by Thomas Burberry with the iconic check lining being added in 1920. In the late 1990s the company changed the name to “Burberry” so this gorgeous coat still bears the original, “Burberrys” name.
Concealed button-down front with button-down front pockets. A single vent in the back hem and some padding in the shoulders. The fabric content label on the inside of the coat indicates that it is made from 51% cotton and 49% polyester with the lining 50% cotton, 50% polyester.
Size: not easy to size, I have to say, but may be a modern UK size 12. However, customers in our Winchester shop, who have tried her on, think this coat may be a modern size UK 14 to 16. Length of coat from base of collar to hem is approx 36 inches.
Condition: A button may need tightening. I have tightened one button for fear of losing it. Small marks on the back, but not very easy to see, and one thread pull – also on the back. A little wear to the cuff lining. However, overall, there are very few signs of wear and this iconic coat from an historical fashion company is in very good condition.
