New items have been brought into the shop over the last few weeks but whenever I’ve been about to press Publish to add them to the website, a customer has bought them! However, I have just added two new stock items to the website this afternoon. One is a lovely light pink summer dress in a size similar to a UK size 14 1960s Day Dress and a gorgeous pair of 1940s Utility Shoes
We’ve had such a busy start to our Vintage Autumn that I haven’t had a chance to add all our lovely “new” pieces to the website. So sorry!
We had a great weekend at the start of October with cocktails to welcome the new Vintage Autumn season. Our 1930/40s rail is now bursting with lots of vintage autumn frocks of different sizes and all unique, of course. Since then, I’ve been busy bringing in hats and shoes, ranging from the 1920s to the 1950s and we sold 3 hats in one day! This is just as well as Gary did mention that there was only one thing missing from our living room…”Another box of hats!” Oops! Well, we’re getting there. Along with more hats and shoes, we’ve also got some beautiful evening bags to bring into the shop and soon, hopefully, some of these will appear here on our website – along with some more jewellery and compacts.
If you haven’t followed our Facebook Page yet, that’s another good way to keep up with our original vintage treasures www.facebook.com/StardustYearsVintageFashion
This evening, we’re off to collect a lovely 1940s display which we were invited to put together by the Theatre Royal, Winchester to celebrate their week-long run of Terence Rattigan’s “Flare Path” and then we’re getting ready for next week’s Vintage Parade’s Bridal Fair in the city’s Guildhall, Sunday 25th October. If you’re looking for some wedding ideas, it could be a great place to start. We’ve been invited to include some of our original vintage bridal items on Brides of Winchester’s stand so do keep an eye out our gorgeous accessories. The shop will be open (as always) and we’ll have some great bridal pieces. And, as a customer suggested to us the other day, vintage compacts make very special Bridesmaids’ gifts!
Cream Evening Bag
We’ve been out and about sprinkling Stardust with our beautiful fashions! Yesterday, we visited a local nursing home and entertained the residents with a short fashion show featuring some gorgeous vintage frocks and gowns.
Two nursing home staff members, Jade and Carol-Anne, modelled 7 dresses, taking us from the 1920s through to the 1970s, culminating in our Oscar-nominated film costume, from the 1976 film, “The Incredible Sarah” designed by Antony Mendleson and worn by Glenda Jackson. In the photo below, you can see Jade’s really getting into character!

We had a lovely afternoon chatting away with the residents with many of our gowns stirring memories of their own wardrobes over the years – one in particular was a plaid “Jonathan Logan” dress from the 1940s. I think Jade’s got her eye on this one!
Here’s a little pic from the morning the girls came over to the shop to fit on possible frocks – we ended up with enough for two or more fashion shows! Carol-Anne is modelling a lovely blue chiffon and beaded evening gown – ideal for being swept around the floor by your very own matinee idol. I think Len would definitely award more than a “Seven!”

After a nice cup of tea and a slice of the best Lemon Drizzle Cake I’ve ever tasted – it was time to wish our lovely ladies farewell and back to the shop, where our thoughts now turn to the Vintage Parade Festive Fayre…
TLC and who doesn’t need a little bit of that in their lives? It’s no different for some of our lovely vintage items so we have what we call our TLC range. Sometimes, the TLC needed is in the skill of a talented seamstress or the skill of a smart launderer who knows how to mix the right cleansing potions to banish marks which would crumble at the whiff of a Dry Cleaner’s chemicals! One of my friends has already sprinkled her magic over some of my vintage clothes so I know there’s talent out there!
At Stardust Years, we may not have the skills our TLC items demand but we do still love them and cannot bear to let them go unworn and unwanted. So, we have a number of TLC pieces, including accessories, which are priced very modestly as we know some TLC may be time-consuming! But then, if you’re in love, it takes little effort and time passes quickly when you’re having fun!

Our TLC range is only available in our Winchester shop and you will find them amongst the rails alongside other items from the same historical period. Come in and have a look. You might find just the piece you were after, or something, whether it’s the material or beaded trimming, that you can use to create a piece of your own Future Vintage!
